a sled run...

I know a lot of people have bemoaned the blasting of snow we've gotten this winter (I think we've gotten something close to five feet so far throughout the winter), but I have actually enjoyed most of it.  Snow days have given me a chance to slow down a little and enjoy some quality time with my family.  We've been able to spend time with friends down the street as well and I've had an excuse to drink more coffe!  But perhaps the best part is that our kids are finally old enough to really enjoy the snow.  We invested in some good snow clothes for them both this winter.  I wasn't too thrilled about the purchases at the time, but it was one of the best investments we've made! As I was clearing the driveway from our last snow, I started making a huge pile at the edge of our yard.  Our back yard makes a pretty steady decline from the driveway and I thought it would be the start to a wonderful sled run!  Well, that pile was still there when the new snow hit yesterday so I kept adding to the pile!  I also lined the sides of the sled run with snow banks and made a ramp down off of the retaining wall so we have a pretty cool luge/toboggan run down the hill in our backyard!  It took us a while this morning to get the snow packed down enough to make it fast, but we're in good shape now and we should have a blast with it over the next few days since it seems the snow won't be leaving us anytime soon.  Here are a few shots from this morning!
