Charlottesville wedding photography: Wenlin and Howard
Several weeks ago, I got a call from a friend, Paul Kim, who is an amazing photographer up in the D.C. area. Well, he's really in the D.C., New York, Atlanta, everywhere area, but I thought that might be confusing to say. Anyway, he asked if I'd be available to photograph a last minute wedding for some friends of his because he wasn't going to be able to do it. I talked to his friends, and we were able to work out quite an exciting day for us all! Howard, a Cornell graduate, met Wenlin about two years ago while he was traveling in China. Wenlin was working as a journalist in the fashion industry. They fell in love, and long story short, she moved to the U.S. about three weeks ago so that they could get married! Their wedding was an intimate family affair at Serenity's Edge near Bedford, Virgina. The exciting part (well, one of the exciting parts) was that I was able to photograph their traditional Chinese ceremony in a beautiful location and then end the day with a portrait session back here in Charlottesville! After the ceremony, the whole family drove back through Charlottesville on their way home in Northern Virginia and they had a big family meal. Howard and Wenlin stayed behind and we took advantage of the gorgeous evening light while wandering around my home turf!
Wenlin definitely tapped into her fashion roots and they came prepared with several outfits. Counting the ceremonial kimonos and traditional dresses, I would say that my time today certainly contained the most amount of wardrobe changes I've experienced in a day! I had such a great time getting to know them and I can't wait to see what their life together will bring. I am sure that it will certainly be a life of adventure and excitement! Wenlin and Howard, I wish you the best in everything! Without further ado, here are a few of my favorite shots of the day.
